The LendingTree Loan Officer Commitments

LendingTree's goal is to empower people. While simply put, the statement carries a very powerful message. We define "people" as, "a collective unit made up of our consumers, employees, management teams, partners, lenders, loan officers, real estate professionals, and others who may contribute to the overall success of the LendingTree business." Standing behind people and enabling them to obtain their personal goals is why we do what we do.

As a member of our front-line team, you are instrumental in our purpose to empower consumers. You are the human representation of the LendingTree brand. Therefore, your actions - or lack thereof - are a direct reflection on LendingTree.

To help you be more successful, LendingTree has developed a list of criteria for loan officer behavior. These criteria, which we call the LendingTree Loan Officer Commitments, were designed to help you develop habits and protocol that will lead to more successful customer interaction. We based these Commitments on our customers' feedback and concerns, as well as our own best practices, and compiled them with the help of our Lender Advisory Council.

We are asking each loan officer on the LendingTree Network to read and sign a copy of the LendingTree Loan Officer Commitments. To view a copy, please visit go to www.lendingtreetraining.com.commit.asp

At this site, you can also download a copy of the Commitments to sign and hang at your desk. To learn more, please join us for one of the "LendingTree Loan Officer Commitments" webinars (you can register at go to www.lendingtreetraining.com).

LendingTree Loan Officer Sales Rally Update

The 2nd Annual LendingTree Sales Rally and the 3rd Annual Certified Loan Officer Summit were held in April, 2005, at the MGM Grand Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas. Approximately 227 Loan Officers attended the Sales Rally and 53 Certified Loan Officers attended the Summit. These events are designed to empower and educate loan officers, in order for them to be the best they can be while promoting LendingTree products and core values.

Based on the feedback from the post-event surveys, both events were well received by the attendees. The loan officers in attendance most enjoyed the keynote presentation by Mike Eruzione, captain of the US Olympic hockey team; a personality assessment presentation by Rita Markle from FiServe/RSA Mortgage Solutions; the best practices round table discussions with peers, and being able to speak one-on-one with LendingTree management and staff.

We have also received some fantastic feedback from attendees that will allow us to improve next year's rally. These suggestions include providing additional motivational and sales training, shortening the event and an East Coast venue.

LenderWeb Apex Tip of the Month - What is the Loan Officer Pipeline report?

This report is very similar to the existing pipeline report but has a different format. Tailored to meet our loan officers' needs, the report displays the QF statuses in the columns and loan officer name(s) in the rows. This report allows users to search for QFs based on transmit date or status change.

Using the Consumer Education Center - See Our New Home Page!

We have reorganized the home page (http://www.lendingtree.com/cec) to improve the user experience and to create room for new sections where we'll highlight our experts and provide articles on the current economic and rate environment. We have also redesigned the "QF spotlights" to improve placement and messaging. These changes will increase traffic and conversion in the Education Center, providing even more qualified leads for the Lenders in our Network

We will also introduce a new Editor, who will act as an advocate for financial education. The Editor will write a monthly column and encourage consumers to submit questions and send feedback on the Consumer Education site and the lending process.

Make sure to sign up for the Consumer Education Toolkit Webinar to learn more about these changes. You can register at www.lendingtreetraining.com. And as always, please send your feedback on the Education Center to loprograms@lendingtree.com.

Remember to check back to the Consumer Education Center often, as the articles are updated monthly.

Have you Visited www.lendingtreetraining.com Lately?

In 2004, LendingTree launched www.lendingtreetraining.com. as a place where LendingTree loan officers can learn about and register for the various LendingTree training programs. Over the past few months, we have made a number of changes to this site - check it out to find what's new:

  • Sales Excellence Training: LendingTree has recently expanded this high-impact program. See what other lenders are saying about the results it has generated for their shops.

  • Webinar Training Program: This popular training resource continues to grow. Currently, we offer training on six different topics, and plans are underway to add four more topics in June!

  • LendingTree Loan Officer Commitments: Consumers expect a superior level of professionalism and customer service from the loan officers who participate in the LendingTree Networks. Working with the lenders on our Network, LendingTree has created eight commitments regarding the expected behavior of a LendingTree Loan Officer. By following these guidelines, you will meet customers' expectations, setting yourself apart from other loan officers and moving one step closer to closing the deal! A printable, downloadable version of the LendingTree Loan Officer Commitments is also available on the website.

  • LendingTree University: LendingTree is excited to launch this new training initiative in 2005! Check out where class is in session each month, the agenda for each event and register - all in one convenient place!

  • Loan Officer Certification: Do you have what it takes to qualify for the Gold Leaf Seal? The LendingTree Loan Officer Certification program was designed to recognize the elite loan officers on the LendingTree Network. Check out the current list of Gold Leaf Seal recipients, as well as the requirements for achieving Gold Leaf Seal status.

Sales Tip of the Month - How Do You Handle Objection?

The introduction of an objection can spark a flow of information that can help you further qualify a sales opportunity and better understand the needs and current environment of your prospects. Understanding the true objection(s) will help you determine the next steps of your sales effort.

What objections do you and your team hear regularly? Do you know how to respond to each of them automatically -- without a second thought?
